The Tufton Arms Hotel
The Tufton Arms Hotel is a small, intimate, luxury hotel in Cumbria, situated in the centre of the charming medieval town of Appleby-in-Westmorland.
Appleby is rightly regarded as the jewel of north west towns with its wide elegant main street Boroughgate, ancient church and grand castle all looped by the River Eden.
At the heart of the hotel is The Conservatory Restaurant offering fine award winning cuisine complemented by a serious wine list.
Our menus always offer something for everyone and every occasion. Fresh local produce from Appleby and surrounding area combined with sound cooking techniques give delicious classic dishes with a modern twist. Sunday lunchtimes are traditional with a complete sirloin of tender Aberdeen Angus beef, carved at the table. We also boldly claim to lay on one of the best Sunday lunches to be found anywhere in the country.
Real, local food
Long before food miles became fashionable we have always had a policy of buying locally, provided that the quality of the produce measured up to our high expectations.
Fortunately it always has, from Low Howgill Cumberland sausages for breakfast and Stephensons greengrocers opposite to The Appleby Creamery producing a range of cheeses with milk from local farms.
We also source our own grouse from Dufton Fell, pheasants and venison from Dalemain.
