Rickwood House Hotel
Set in Portpatrick, a pretty harbourside village on the Rhins of Galloway and approx 6 miles from Stranraer - a scenic and narrow peninsula in the far south western corner of Scotland. The roads are very quiet and lead to the Mull of Galloway - Scotland`s most southerly point. Ride southward through stunning coastal scenery to the Mull of Galloway, northwards along another awesome coastal road towards Ayr or eastwards into Galloway Forest Park!
Award winning hospitality
A few years back, Rickwood House won an award for a "Warm Scottish Welcome" and we always try our best to make all our guests feel welcome and to help them to get the most form their precious holidays. More recently we won a "Gold" award from VisitScotland for service and this year we won a Green Laurel Eco Award from the Scottish Hotel Awards.
We have 6 well appointed, individually styled en-suite bedrooms.Although not a hotel,we can offer evening meals, packed lunches and we hold a licence. We have plenty of safe, off-street motorcycle parking facilities within our grounds.
As you would expect, we provide a traditional full cooked breakfast plus our own distinctive Kiwi Special option!
We try our best to minimise our impact on our environment and recently installed a biomass - woodchip central heating boiler as well as solar panels.
Reductions available for stays of three or more nights - contact us for more details.
Although Portpatrick is a small village, it has enough pubs and restaurants to eat somewhere different every night for a week! Fresh, locally caught seafood features on many menus and nothing beats a pint of real ale served outside one of the pubs overlooking the harbour.
There are several interesting gift shops and two free-to-use cashpoints in the village.
Stranraer (the Dumfries & Galloway's second largest town) is a short (and very pleasant!) ride away and has fuel stations, supermarkets, chemist etc.
