18th Century Coaching Inn and campsite in a spectacular river bank location close by Loch Ken in an area renowned for its tranquillity and picturesque views.
This 18th Century Coaching Inn was originally built to provide food, ale and shelter for travellers and coaches on the Old Edinburgh Road between Ireland and Edinburgh.
Fabulous motorcycling roads aside (of which Dumfries and Galloway has plenty), Ken Bridge Hotel is also a superb centre for fishing, golfing, hill walking, family cycling on the surrounding quiet country roads, mountain biking on the world famous 7 Stanes routes, bird watching, photography, clay pigeon shooting, field and water-sports or for simply relaxing and taking in the wonderful scenery.
Ken Bridge is a family run hotel, the owners of which have local connections reaching back through many generations. Our ethos is to make your stay as comfortable and relaxing as possible in the most tranquil of surroundings.
The hotel has a well stocked, traditional bar serving cask ales and fine malts and is mentioned in the CAMRA guide for the quality of its beers.
Our restaurant is noted for its good, well presented meals using locally sourced fresh produce wherever possible. Each Sunday the lunch is a veritable feast with the renowned Ken Bridge Carvery, a choice of 3 succulent roasts plus home-made vegetarian alternatives, all served with a fine selection of vegetables, gravies and sundries.
Because of our unique riverbank position we're the only restaurant in Scotland, (conditions and seasons allowing) where crayfish can be caught straight from the water, expertly cooked and brought to your table within minutes.
The utterly fabulous Queens Way runs between Ken Bridge hotel and Newton Stewart. If you do nothing else in Dumfries and Galloway, ride this road!
Annual motorbike show and ride-in event held in nearby Newton Stewart on the first Sunday in August most years.
We are on the edge of the UNESCO Dark Skies Park created in 2009, which is at this time the only one in Scotland and only the 5th worldwide. In addition, we are founder members of and an information point for the Galloway Red Kite Trail.
The Water of Ken that runs beside the hotel is a seasonal host to ospreys, kingfishers and oyster catchers and also a healthy population of otters.
The woodlands of Galloway Forest Park to the west of the hotel are used as a roost by up to as many as 35 red kites, which frequently soar and wheel spectacularly over the hotel.
