Glenelg Inn

The Glenelg Inn, at Kyle of Lochalsh is a traditional Highland Inn with cosy character, lively music nights and superb local Scottish cuisine all set in a spectacular setting with uninterrupted views over the Sound of Sleat to the Isle of Skye.

Historic surroundings

Gavin Maxwell wrote his classic 'Ring of Bright Water' here from his little cottage at Sandaig, and today’s visitors will still find an completely unspoilt area full of wildlife and interest. Glenelg itself is home to the original Skye ferry which carries a few cars at a time across the Kylerhea narrows through the summer months.

Top class, locally sourced food

Our menus take full advantage of the very best fresh, local produce;

Langoustines, scallops, local venison and beef, monkfish and hill-lamb are all lovingly prepared for you in-house by our top class-chefs. Our wine cellar is well and considerably stocked, as is our bar where we keep a good range of excellent single malts.

The Bar has regular live music and is open throughout the year - non-residents warmly welcome.

Amazing motorcycling territory

This is easy.

Get up, enjoy a hearty breakfast and jump on your bike. Ride until you need fuel, fill up and carry on riding until you feel tired and/or hungry.

You literally cannot possibly go wrong touring the Scottish Highlands on a motorcycle, it's absolutely beautiful!

Glenelg - Skye ferry

Take the real scenic route over to Skye.

The Glenelg Ferry is the last manually operated turntable ferry in Scotland, is ideally suited for this crossing and part of the area's local heritage.

Crossings operate between Easter and mid-October. The ferry normally operates seven days a week between 10am - 6pm. Sailings are every twenty minutes or as required.
