Tim crashed

I know, I know… I said no more talk of crashing. Sod’s Law dictates, though, that no sooner has that post gone onto the blog than I get a call to say Tim’s crashed.

Thankfully, it wasn’t on his Explorer. It was on his mountain bike. For some reason, he’d decided to join a couple of his – significantly younger – work colleagues at an off-road cycle park near Merthyr Tydfil. Tim rides around municipal parks with his wife at the weekend; this lot are borderline downhill racers…

So the poor bugger was well and truly out of his comfort zone, trying to keep up with blokes ten years younger than him and far more experienced on tough terrain. It was almost inevitable that he’d throw himself over the bars and into the trees.

Tim was lucky: a trip to A&E proved that there was nothing broken, but apparently he’s basically one large bruise from his forehead to his knees. Apparently the bike was pretty smashed up and he was lucky not to be equally dented.

But it just confirms something I’ve always said: exercise is dangerous. I’m definitely sticking to bikes with motors.
