Buttertubs Pass links up Hawes and Thwaite in quite some style.
It is said that the name Buttertubs (given to the series of 20 metre deep limestone potholes) came from the times when farmers would rest there on their way to market. During hot weather they would lower the butter they had produced into the potholes to keep it cool.
It also famously featured during 2014’s Tour de France Yorkshire stages.
Short in length but huge in enjoyment and links really well with plenty of other fantastic biking roads in the area.
