Once the main ferry port to Ireland, Portpatrick in Dumfries & Galloway is now the proud holder of the title “the Jewel in the Crown of Galloway” and is today a bustling yacht and fishing village with attractive craft shops and friendly harbourside pubs serving real ales. A lovely spot to sup a pint and unwind after a great day's riding.
Nearby Stranraer, the region's second largest town has all the usual fuel stations, supermarket and facilities you might need. It's also a rather nice, twisty ride there too - a bonus!
Portpatrick is a nice 12 mile ride from Cairnryan ferry terminal for those travelling to or from Ireland.
