The worst thing about going away for a week is the carnage that greets you when you come back to the office. Being self-employed, I can’t even leave stuff for colleagues to do – not the way you do when you’re in a big company. Still, I’m just about back on top of it now.

The one thing that makes it bearable is the memories of the great roads I’ve just been riding. And the thought that all the graft will go towards funding next year’s trip… I wonder where we’ll go?
